VICTORIA, Texas – Oct. 26, 2017 – LyondellBasell’s Victoria Plant employees, contractors, families and friends helped make a playground safer and more sustainable for students at The Vine School, which serves children with autism spectrum disorder and related communication disorders.
For the company’s 18th annual Global Care Day, more than 45 volunteers refreshed the playground’s landscape, decorated fencing and constructed a new storage shed. Additionally, volunteers painted donated chairs and made activity boards to help children develop their motor skills.
“I’m always inspired by the passion of our employees to make a real difference for those in need,” said Greg Cannon, Site Manager, LyondellBasell Victoria Plant. “One of our company core values is to be a good neighbor in the communities where we operate. Children at The Vine School now have playground equipment that is aesthetically more pleasing, sturdier and safer because of our employees.”
Workers from the company’s 58 manufacturing sites and offices in 23 countries participate in Global Care Day activities on an annual basis. Over the past 18 years, LyondellBasell employees and their families have cumulatively donated more than 40,000 volunteer hours on Global Care Day.
“We appreciate companies like LyondellBasell and their participation in efforts important to our school and community,” said Erin Hatley, Executive Director of The Vine School. “We are touched by the generosity of each employee and the time devoted to making our playground better for the children we serve.”
At its Victoria Plant, LyondellBasell produces high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a plastic used in food packaging, personal care products and textiles. For more information, visit www.lyb.com/victoria.
