LyondellBasell Tuscola Plant United Way Campaign Tops $47,000

Communities to Benefit from Company and Employee Donations
TUSCOLA, Ill. – March 31, 2016 – The Tuscola Plant of LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, recently announced donations totaling more than $47,000 to United Way of Champaign County, United Way of Coles County, United Way of Central Illinois and United Way of Decatur and Mid-Illinois as part of its completed 2015 campaign.
“We are committed to being a responsible, good neighbor in the communities where we operate,” said LyondellBasell CEO Bob Patel. “We are very proud of our efforts and the generosity of our employees in giving back to their communities through charitable giving and volunteer service.”
In 2015, LyondellBasell held United Way campaigns at 22 company sites across the U.S. and raised a total of $2.7 million. The money raised by the company’s campaign will benefit thousands of programs across the country that people in need rely upon.
“Companies like LyondellBasell and their employees make these campaigns successful,” said Carolyn Cloyd, United Way of Coles County executive director. “We provide an avenue to support the programs that address problems in the community, but they make that happen by providing support and hope to people that need it most.”
In addition to supporting the United Way, in 2015 LyondellBasell Tuscola employees and their families participated in Global Care Day, the company’s annual day of service, where they beautified the grounds of Arthur Grade School. The Tuscola Plant also plays a leadership role in the local community supporting many area organizations including Arthur School District, Tuscola School District, Relay for Life, Salvation Army and many other agencies in Douglas County.
“Our employees are the driving force of what makes this yearly campaign so successful,” said Tuscola Plant Site Manager Shawn Cullen. “Their participation, along with the backing of LyondellBasell, helps to make contributions like this one possible.”
