Volunteers Beautify The Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Employees and Friends Give Back on LyondellBasell Global Care Day
PASADENA, Texas – Sept. 21, 2015 – Workers from LyondellBasell Equistar Pipeline and their families teamed up to improve and renovate The Bridge Over Troubled Waters as part of the Company’s annual Global Care Day. Volunteers provided basic maintenance to the facility, including painting the nursery area, power washing sidewalks, cleaning carpets and beautifying the children’s playground.
"Our agency assists victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. We rely on companies like LyondellBasell to help sustain our building to continue to serve clients who are in crisis,” said Bridge Over Troubled Waters Director Kimberly Meza. “Our work could not be possible without the support of the community and continuous generosity of donors and volunteers from LyondellBasell’s Global Care Day event.”
The Company's 16th annual Global Care Day encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects on the same day. This year, approximately 2,600 volunteers are investing their time and talents on projects in the areas of education, health and the environment – the core focuses of our Elements of Engagement community philanthropy strategy.
“Global Care Day is all about giving back to our community through volunteering and making a difference,” said Cindy Miller, LyondellBasell administrative assistant. “This is a very rewarding experience for all of our volunteers when they see the impact we can make for the residents at the Bridge.”
The Bridge Over Troubled Waters offers support, provides safety and prevents domestic and sexual violence to over 20,000 people in and around the Houston area. The organization has providing this service for the past 33 years and has become the 8th largest family crisis center in Texas.
