LyondellBasell Honored for Pipeline Safety

LyondellBasell Equistar Pipelines has earned a trio of top safety honors from the American Petroleum Institute.
The organization’s Safety award was given for the lowest total recordable incident rate for employees and contractors among small operators. The Environmental honor recognized the best performance record among small operators considering volume and number of incidents per mile of operated pipeline. The Distinguished award is the organization’s highest recognition for pipeline operators. The achievement is based on zero OSHA-reported incidents for employees and contractors as well as zero releases into the environment.
Equistar Maintenance and Operations Manager Scot McClure received the awards on behalf of LyondellBasell at API’s 66th Annual Pipeline Conference in Savannah, Georgia. “It takes a solid, diligent team to accomplish this type of consistent record. I am so proud of each and every member of our staff,” said McClure. “We cover a lot of territory and safety is always our top priority.”
With 1,400 miles of pipelines, Equistar transports 20 billion pounds of product and 35 million barrels of feedstock annually. The Pipeline group won the Distinguished Award in the small operator category.
“This award is a testament to Equistar’s distinguished commitment to exceptional safety and environmental performance,” said API Pipeline Director Peter Lidiak. “Equistar sets a strong example among small operators and this level of performance is where every company would like to be.”
