The American Heart Association (AHA) recently recognized LyondellBasell’s Cincinnati Technology Center with a “Fit-Friendly Worksite” Gold Award. The selection is based on employers who go above and beyond when it comes to the health of their workers.
"I am so proud of the commitment and dedication of our staff for embracing this program," said LyondellBasell Cincinnati Technology Center Site Manager Charles Holland. “It’s a matter of looking at the big picture and healthy employees are happy employees.”
The Cincinnati Technology Center launched a number of strategies to achieve this goal. Activities included wellness initiatives such as the “Commit to be Fit” weight loss program, education on health related topics, a site based walking program, an on-site wellness center and employee medical screenings. Since June 1, more than 40 employees have combined to walk more than 2,600 miles.
"The AHA is very selective on who receives this award. We are honored to join the 70 companies in the Cincinnati area that have achieved this recognition level," Holland said. “Their commitment to taking on a healthier lifestyle is inspiring.”
According to the AHA, worksite wellness programs are a proven strategy to prevent the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
