Founded in the 1990s, the Community Advisory Panel to LyondellBasell and Equistar (CAPLE) meets eight times a year to discuss site operations, complex environmental performance, and emergency response.

The mission of CAPLE is to provide an ongoing dialogue between the LyondellBasell Channelview Complex and the surrounding community.  CAPLE will promote substantive two-way communication on community and/or company concerns, including health, safety, and the environment.  This communication will be directed to specific actions.  The goal is to develop mutual understanding, trust and partnership between industry and the community that will enhance the quality of life in the area.

The meeting is open to members of the Channelview, Crosby and Highlands communities. The group meets approximately eight times yearly in January, February, April, May, August, September, October and November. Meetings times vary each month. Community Advisory Panels

Community Advisory Panels (CAPs) facilitate dialogue and collaboration between organizations and their communities.  They create opportunities and a platform for community members, regulatory officials, and elected representatives to share their perspectives on operations, policies, and projects. The increased dialogue and transparency at CAP meetings aim to foster trust and strengthen relationships between the organization and its external stakeholders.  LyondellBasell actively participates in and attends CAP meetings in the areas where we operate and where CAPs are in place.

Community Involvement

Community Outreach 

Members of the Channelview Complex team also actively participate in various community groups, including the North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce and the North Shore Rotary Club.

Global Corporate Citizenship  

In addition, employee volunteers spent countless hours volunteering at local school events, reading to students, judging science and robotic fairs and engaging with students at various STEAM events. The site also focuses on efforts such as holiday gifts for seniors and children and back-to-school supply drives.
