LYB employees help restore Lake Charles OASIS women’s shelter
LyondellBasell employees rallied together to help restore a much-needed shelter in Louisiana’s Calcasieu Parish. Members of LIFT, the LYB women’s employee network, from both Lake Charles sites have joined together to support OASIS A Safe Haven for Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence, an organization that provides support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
“We are very grateful to LyondellBasell for your generous donation to support OASIS as we prepare to reopen our facility. This donation will support our efforts to facilitate a fresh start for survivors of domestic violence in Southwest Louisiana,” said Kathy Manuel, executive director, OASIS.
The OASIS facility sustained significant damage in 2020 when Hurricane Laura made a direct impact on Southwest Louisiana. Since the storm, OASIS has been working to repair the facility. The LIFT employee network contributed $8,000 in both financial investment and in-kind donation to support OASIS in preparation for its reopening on Tuesday, May 7.
Sara Vidrine, SAP Analyst at the Lake Charles LKO facility and LIFT member, is a volunteer at OASIS.
“I’ve seen firsthand the fruits of the labor of the agency to help with outreach programs that support our community. I am proud that LYB sees this as a very important part of giving back to the community and Advancing Good in our area,” Vidrine said.
Formerly called Calcasieu Women’s Shelter and Rape Crisis Outreach, OASIS has been serving victims of domestic violence in Southwest Louisiana since 1979.
