LyondellBasell earned two of the top three and four of the top 13 Distinguished Safety Awards from the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers Association (AFPM).
The Clinton Plant and Matagorda Facility were the only two sites honored with the 2015 Distinguished Safety Gold Awards and the Lake Charles and Victoria sites received 2015 Distinguished Safety Silver Awards. Ten LyondellBasell sites also received Meritorious Safety Awards or Awards for Safety Achievement for their performance in 2014.
The Distinguished Safety Award (DSA) Gold is presented to the top 1 percent of member company refineries and petrochemical plants that have exhibited superior safety performance and program innovation. The DSA Silver is presented to the top 4-5 percent of member company refineries and petrochemical plants that have exhibited excellent industry safety performance and program innovation.
Kevin Brown, executive vice president for Manufacturing and Refining, was on hand at the annual awards ceremony to present the DSA awards. "It was a special moment for me to present our DSA winners with their prestigious awards," said Brown. "This was a big achievement and a testament to their commitment to GoalZERO. I am very proud of the performance of all of our award-winning sites."
Meritorious Safety Awards were presented to facilities that achieved an employee total recordable incident rate of 0.6 or less at their site for calendar year 2014. In addition, Awards for Safety Achievement were presented to sites that worked at least 1 million safe work hours and/or one or more years without a recordable injury.
